Toro Rosso advisor Gerhard Berger believes that it is too early to consider driver Daniel Ricciardo for a switch to Red Bull.
Ricciardo revealed on Thursday that he felt ready to move to Red Bull after praise from team principal Christian Horner, but Berger has insisted that the Australian, along with Jean-Eric Vergne, should continue to develop their career with their current team.
The former Ferrari driver told APA: "Red Bull needs two absolutely winning drivers. Whether one of both of these boys have it, we will see in the second half of the season.
"But now it's still too early to judge. I think they may need another year of development at Toro Rosso."
Ricciardo and Vergne have won a combined total of just eight points from the opening five races of the season.
