Ian Poulter's participation in this week's Open Championship has been put under threat by a wrist injury.
The Ryder Cup star suffered the problem while missing the cut at the Scottish Open in Aberdeen last Friday.
The 38-year-old played a practice round with English compatriot Lee Westwood on Monday before departing the Hoylake course in Liverpool for a scan to discover the extent of the damage.
Poulter tweeted: "Just off to Leeds to have a MRI scan on the wrist. Jarred it last week on 14th and 18th. Precautionary but has to be done.
He later added: "Just had the MRI. Wait until tomorrow to get the results. No fractures that I do know. Radiologist will let me know. Fingers crossed."
Poulter's best Major finish was as runner-up to Padraig Harrington at the Open Championship in 2008.
