Jason Day unsurprised by Tiger Woods comeback

Last year's Masters runner-up Jason Day believes that Tiger Woods's return to winning ways was inevitable.

Australian Jason Day has revealed that he always expected Tiger Woods to rediscover his old form.

Woods won his first PGA Tour event in 30 months at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month, and the former world number one now has his sights set on a fifth green jacket at the Masters.

Although the return of Woods to winning ways took longer than some expected, Day believes that it was always going to happen sooner or later.

"If you have the talent and you work hard enough, sooner or later, it's going to come. Tiger has dominated the game of golf for a long, long time, so it was just only a matter of time - and I could just see it in his eyes that he was going to do it," said Day.

"Obviously Tiger's had his troubles, but he certainly has been working hard. Talking to him on the range at the WGC-Cadillac Championship I could tell that there was nothing else that he wanted to do than win and play well.

"I wasn't surprised."

Day finished last year's Masters as joint runner-up and is hoping to go one better this time around, while Woods is looking for a 15th major.
