Sergio Garcia has said that he is determined to make up for the disappointment of missing out on Colin Montgomerie's 2010 Ryder Cup team.
The Spaniard acted as vice captain to the victorious European team at Celtic Manor.
After recording back-to-back triumphs at the Castello Masters and the Andalucia Masters at the end of last year, Garcia has now said that he has regained his enthusiasm for the game.
The former world number two added that he is as hungry as ever to compete at the Medinah Country Club, Illinois, this September.
Europe's bid to retain the trophy rests in the hands of his compatriot and friend Jose Maria Olazabal.
"You all know how much I love the Ryder Cup and how important it is to me," said the 32-year-old.
"I would love to make that team and help my teammates retain the Cup.
"I'm as hungry as I was before, as hungry as I was trying in 2010 and as hungry as I was in any of the other ones that I managed to qualify for."
Garcia will tee off at Riviera Country Club this week in the Northern Trust Open.
