European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal has admitted that he has no problem with picking Paul Lawrie in his squad for the 2012 tournament.
Lawrie has enjoyed a brilliant start to the new year and climbed to fourth spot in the Ryder Cup standings after a victory at the Qatar Masters.
Olazabal has revealed that he remains a big fan of the Scottish player, aged 43.
"Age is only a figure. And even with Paul being into his 40s makes no difference," Olazabal said.
"He is the type of player who you need to have on a Ryder Cup team - a player who can combine and pair with other players.
"It is going to be very important for Paul to be in the majors and the WGCs (World Golf Championships) because the Ryder Cup points are huge."
Lawrie has not appeared in the competition since 1999.
