Paul Lawrie has said that finishing second in last year's World Tour Championship in Dubai inspired his strong form in 2012.
The 43-year-old has recorded nine top-10 finishes this year, including wins at the Qatar Masters and the Johnnie Walker Championship.
Lawrie told BBC Scotland: "To nearly win a tournament of this quality with the field we had was a huge boost for my confidence.
"It was just a snowball effect at the start of the year. Every week I played, I seemed to be in contention to win.
"I had been working hard on my short game, especially with the putter, and I could see things slowly happening."
This year's World Tour Championship gets underway tomorrow.
