Graeme McDowell admitted to feeling "elated" after fighting back to beat Gary Woodland in the first round of the WGC World Match Play Championship.
The Northern Irishman struggled for much of the match and was three down with three holes to play before rallying to knock out Woodland with a birdie on the first extra hole.
"I'm sure he's extremely disappointed right now and I'm extremely elated," McDowell told reporters. "I'm surprised to be sitting here, having won.
"Yeah, I hit a couple of quality shots down the last couple of holes, but he had mistakes, as well. It's a brutal format."
McDowell will face Hideki Matsuyama in the last 32 of the competition.
