Tiger Woods has confirmed that he will compete in the Genesis Open at the Riviera Country Club next February in his first US Tour commitment of the 2017 season.
The 14-time Major winner made his comeback to the sport following a 15-month absence at the Hero World Challenge recently, finishing 15th after carding four-under for the tournament.
Not since 2006 has Woods played in the Los Angeles event, formerly known as the Northern Trust Open, but he is hoping to make his mark for his 80th tournament victory and a first in four years.
"I'm very excited to come back to Riviera and compete in the Genesis Open," he is quoted as saying by The Guardian. "This is where it all started for me. It was my first PGA Tour event. I was 16 years old, I weighed about 105 pounds. It was a life-changing moment for me."
Woods is planning a full schedule for 2017 as he looks to close the gap on Jack Nicklaus, who remains four Majors ahead.
