Justin Timberlake will serve as America's Team ambassador at this year's Ryder Cup in Illinois.
The music and acting star admitted that he is honoured to be taking on the role
"There is no greater stage for the sport than the Ryder Cup, and I'm proud to be an Ambassador for the US," he said.
It is the first time there has been such a role, but the appointment has been welcomed by the PGA.
"Justin Timberlake's involvement is an added bonus for one of the most highly anticipated sporting events in the world," said PGA of America President, Allen Wronowski.
"As someone who is passionate about golf, he's the perfect fit to be a Team Ambassador."
Timberlake already hosts a PGA Tour event during the Fall Series and was named creative director for Callaway last year.
