Chris Wood has won the BMW PGA Championship for the first time in his career.
The 28-year-old Bristolian carded a final-round 69 at Wentworth to clinch the biggest win of his career in the European Tour's flagship event, also lifting him into the automatic qualifying places for the Ryder Cup team.
Wood began the day three shots off the pace, but overnight leader Scott Hend endured a miserable day and finished on just three-under having carded a final round of six-over-par.
Wood holed an eagle on a record-equalling front nine, reaching the turn in just 29 to match Danny Willett's mark from Friday.
He was forced to hold off a strong challenge from Rikard Karlberg, though, with the Swede going round in just 65, including a hole in one on the second.
He eventually finished one shot ahead of Karlberg, though, while Masters champion Willett was two shots off the pace following a 71 on the final day.
Wood pockets £637,000 in prize money as a result of his victory, in addition to climbing into the top 25 of the world rankings for the first time in his career.
