Robert Garrigus will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Valspar Championship at the Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.
The 36-year-old began play on Saturday with a three-stroke advantage, but a closing bogey eventually saw his lead cut down to one.
Garrigus hit back-to-back birdies at the start of the third round and was four shots clear after five holes.
However, the American slipped up on the back nine, missing par putts on 13 and then the last.
Garrigus finished the penultimate round of the tournament on eight-under-par, with Kevin Na behind him following a third round 68.
John Senden and Justin Rose are third and fourth respectively on the leaderboard.
