Kevin Streelman has held off a late charge from Boo Weekley to claim his first PGA Tour title with victory at the Tampa Bay Championship today.
Streelman went into the final round with a slight edge after enjoying a bogey-free third round and kicked off with a birdie on the first hole.
A chip-in from 28 yards at the third made it two birdies in three holes and put the Duke University graduate firmly in control.
Weekley had piled on the pressure with a tournament-best round of 63, but Streelman was not to be denied and finished 10-under par after putting for birdie at the 17th green.
The 34-year-old claimed his maiden title at the 153rd attempt to earn an automatic place in the Masters for only the second time in his career.
Weekley had to settle for second place after falling two shots short, with Cameron Tringale and Justin Leonard tying for third.
