Bubba Watson has hung tough with a second round of 67 to take the lead at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut.
After a high-scoring first day, the River Highlands course bit back, pushing many of the first-round leaders down the leaderboard.
Watson (-10) shot 63 on Thursday and went three-under for his second trip, seeing him head into the weekend two shots clear of Patrick Reed and Padraig Harrington, who have carded 66 for both of their rounds so far.
Overnight leader Charley Hoffman could only manage a three-over 73 and slips back to a tie for eighth on six-under-par.
Tag Ridings (-7), Keegan Bradley (-6) and Henrik Norlander (E) all signed for 65, the best round of the day.
US Open champion Justin Rose added a 68 to his 67 on day and and lies five shots off the pace on three-under-par, but fellow Englishman Lee Westwood only just scraped past the cut on level par.
