Chawrasia has featured in first place since the start of the tournament, and three birdies from the world number 204 have seen him move clear of Siddikur Rahman.
Rahman is three clear of Marcus Fraser who sits in third position, while Daniel Chopra and Prayad Marksaeng share fourth place.
Indian number one Anirban Lahiri has improved to a tie for sixth, but Miguel Angel Jimenez has fallen to 21st place after a level-par 71.
