Jason Day has moved to the top of the leaderboard at the Bridgestone Invitational after shooting a second-round 69.
The world number one recorded three birdies and two bogeys on Friday but it was enough to move ahead of first-round leader William McGirt, who dropped to third after a disappointing 74.
Sweden's David Lingmerth registered five birdies during a round of 67 to move into second position, while the chasing pack remain in close contention with both Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott both within three shots of the lead.
However, Rickie Fowler and Paul Casey endured frustrating rounds as they fell to 14th and 22nd respectively, while Dustin Johnson also lost ground.
Defending champion Shane Lowry made up four positions but he remains down in 47th place.
