World number two Rory McIlroy has heaped praise on fellow Brit Justin Rose for winning the US Open.
Rose became the first Englishman to win the major in 43 years after holding his nerve to finish ahead of Phil Mickelson at the Merion Golf Club.
He hit a final card round of 70, and 2011 winner McIlroy expressed his delight for the 32-year-old.
McIlroy wrote on Twitter: "So happy for @JustinRose99! Couldn't happen to a better lad!"
McIlroy closed his tournament with a 76.
