Team England gymnast Louis Smith has insisted that he knows how to switch on his focus, despite all the media attention surrounding the Commonwealth Games medallist.

The 25-year-old has a gold medal to his name, as well as a bronze, which he collected after scoring 14.966 in the pommel horse final at the SSE Hydro this afternoon.

Scotland's Dan Keatings took home the gold, while Smith's England teammate Max Whitlock added silver to his collection of medals in Glasgow.

Prior to Smith's Commonwealths campaign, the gymnast spent time away from the sport and embarked on a stint in reality television by winning BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing.

"There's always going to be attention and expectation around you, but I've done the training, I've done my competitions around the world, I've got my experience and I know how to switch it on," Smith told Sports Mole.

"Unfortunately today, I always talk about being a nine times out of 10 athlete - today was the day that I didn't quite do it. Again, I've had a great time. Dan and Max were brilliant! I felt sorry for Jac [Davies], the Welsh guy, who did a brilliant routine and came just behind me when I made a mistake, so, it's a bit hard, but that's gymnastics."

Before getting selected for the Games, Smith, who will appear in new BBC One show Tumble, last featured in a major competition back in 2012 at the London Olympics.
