Team GB artistic gymnast Kelly Simm finished in 11th place in her first all-around final at the European Games in Baku on Thursday against some established names.
The 20-year-old's evening got off to a disappointing start as she posted a low score on the balance beam, but a solid recovery saw her impress on the floor, vault and uneven bars.
Sports Mole spoke to Simm after the event to get her take on how she performed in the Azerbaijani capital.
How do you feel things went for you tonight out there?
"It was okay. I'm very disappointed with beam - I was hoping for a better routine there - but it was the first piece and I'm just happy with the way I picked myself up and carried on. It was a good experience in my first all-around final."
Despite scoring low on your first routine, you showed great character to bounce back...
"It was definitely upsetting. After a bad routine on your first apparatus, it is hard, but I just thought that I've got nothing to lose now and I need to show that I can put things behind me and just use it as an experience."
You still must be proud of how you've done in the event...
"Yeah, definitely. I was just so happy to make the all-around final and I'm especially happy with my bars routine today. I got my new routine out and my new release, so I'm really happy to be able to have done that under such big pressure."
You've got the vault final coming up on Saturday. What's the plan between now and then? Any time to relax?
"We'll have two sessions tomorrow in the gym and then obviously it's the finals the next day. Maybe we'll be able to chill on the last day - that'd be good!"
