Team GB gymnast Josie Russell tells Sports Mole that she is disappointed not to have won a women's acrobatic team medal at the European Games.

Team GB acrobatic gymnast Josie Russell has told Sports Mole that she and teammates Jennifer Bailey and Cicely Irwin are disappointed not to have won a medal in the women's group all-around final at the European Games in Baku.

The trio finished in sixth place on Friday, with Belgium, Russia and Belarus all making it onto the podium.

However, they will have another shot at glory on Saturday when they will take part in the balance and dynamic finals.

"Obviously we're disappointed because we made a really uncharacteristic mistake in our routine, which we've never done before," said Russell. "We're disappointed with that because we know that we can perform the routine a lot better. It's a learning curve.

"We knew that the all-around final wasn't our best shot at a medal, but obviously it would have meant a lot to have gone out there and done a clean routine today."

Meanwhile, Irwin believes that she and her teammates did themselves proud despite failing to come away from the event with a medal.

"We try and not watch anyone or look at the scores before we go on because it will just make us nervous, knowing that everyone else has done really well," she added. "You can only do the best that you can do in the end."

Acrobatic gymnastics is one of two non-Olympic gymnastic disciplines being showcased at the European Games in Baku, alongside aerobic gymnastics.
