Rhythmic gymnast Francesca Jones has said that it was a "massive shock" when she was told that she would be flying the flag for Wales at the opening ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
It was announced this lunchtime that Jones, who is appearing at her third Commonwealths and won a silver medal in Delhi four years ago, would be the flag bearer.
"It's a massive honour and privilege," she said at the Athletes' Village earlier today.
"I found out late last night after training. It was a massive shock. This morning has been a bit crazy."
Jones said that it meant a lot to her family, especially her father, who is the reason why she competes for Wales.
"I rang my dad earlier today to tell him. He's so patriotic and so Welsh. He was almost in tears when he find out. He said, 'If you could see me, I've got the biggest grin on my face!'
"It's great just to be involved, let alone to be at the front."
Jones's rhythmic gymnastics will take place on the first three days of the Games between July 24 and July 26 later this week.
