Canadian centre-wing Jeff Carter has admitted that his side will miss John Tavares for the rest of their 2014 Winter Olympics campaign.
The 23-year-old New York Islanders centre suffered tears to the MCL and meniscus in his left knee during the North American side's 2-1 victory over Latvia in the men's ice hockey quarter-finals on Wednesday.
"That's tough," ESPN quotes Carter as saying.
"He was a big part of our team and obviously, you don't want to see anybody get hurt no matter who they are playing for. He was a great guy in the room."
Canada will take on the USA in the semi-finals of the competition at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi on Friday.
