Sweden ice hockey captain Henrik Zetterberg has been ruled out of the Sochi Winter Olympics due to injury, according to reports.
The four-time Olympian, who won gold with Sweden in the Turin Games eight years ago, has a herniated disc in his back and has missed 13 games for the Detroit Red Wings during the current NHL season.
Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told reporters: "[Zetterberg] is in a great deal of discomfort, so in fairness to Sweden, the Detroit Red Wings organisation and himself, he is pulling out of the Olympics.
"He has to see a doctor, but he will not be ready by the time we come out of the Olympic break. Beyond that, I have no real time frame."
Sweden's ice hockey team will take on Switzerland later today.
