Great Britain's Gemma Gibbons has advanced to the next round of the women's -78kgs judo competition after beating France's Madeleine Malonga.
Gibbons, 28, edged past her 21-year-old opponent with a waza-ari to seal victory at the Heydar Aliyev Arena.
The Team GB athlete, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, conceded an early yuko, but scored the decisive waza-ari in the final 30 seconds of the bout.
She will now face Victoriia Turks of Ukraine in the round of 16.
