Jamie Chestney: 'More to come from England'

Jamie Chestney says that there is more to come from England's men's triples team following their comfortable lawn bowls victory against the Falkland Islands.

Men's triples skipper Jamie Chestney has insisted that Team England can still move up "another couple of gears" in their pursuit of a lawn bowls medal.

Chestney, along with teammates Stuary Airey and John McGuinness, led the celebrations following the 31-8 victory over the Falkland Islands at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre, as England celebrated a successful opening day in the event.

"It went well and I thought we played reasonably well and we still have another couple of gears but it was a positive start," the skipper said.

"Once we got a score and had played a few bowls out first we got in front and settled down and that helped us. With the group stages as they are you need to keep going and get as many shots as you can as at the end of the group it could come down to shot difference.

"We have not had a huge amount of preparation time together so it was good to get that game done and won."

England's oldest competitor at the Games, Doreen Flanders, completed a clean sweep of victories for her nation later in the day.
