England coach Anna Mayes admits that her side must reduce their error count if they are to overcome New Zealand in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games.

Anna Mayes has admitted that her England team cannot afford to continue with their high error count if they are to progress further at the Commonwealth Games.

England's women have qualified convincingly from the pool stages and will now face New Zealand on Saturday morning as they chase a medal in Glasgow.

While Mayes is happy that the whole squad is performing, so much so to give her a selection headache, she has warned that the number of errors that England have been making could cost them against better opposition.

Mayes told reporters: "It was good to get a comprehensive win in terms of scoreline but I am disappointed with the sheer volume of errors. Saying that when you are playing against a lesser team you get more possession and you are more likely to make errors.

"However we have to be more clinical. We need to ensure we are clinical across the 60 minutes because we saw what happened in the Australia game We have got a great team that is feeling very confident about what they are delivering on. We have got 12 athletes who are in form and it is causing us a great headache.

"But that is exactly what we wanted. We have 12 athletes who at any point can take to the court and do England proud. This is what athletes prepare for and coaches build a programme for."

England won four out of their five matches in the pool stages of the Games.
