Team England netball head coach Anna Mayes has revealed that she was delighted with the way her side rebounded from disappointment to defeat South Africa.
Mayes's side narrowly lost to Australia in their second group match at the Commonwealth Games, but bounced back to defeat the Springboks in a 41-35 victory.
She told reporters: "Winning ugly is absolutely fine when you have got a win under your belt. I think the girls showed real character and real grit after the Australia match.
"They showed real strength of character and lot of people after the game were asking how we would get them back up but they get themselves up.
"Some of them took themselves away to watch another sport, others stayed at home and chilled out."
England are next in action against Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday.
