A further 240 people are understood to have been injured on Tuesday night.

Nine fans were killed in car accidents in the cities of Bejaia and Biskra respectively, while a further three died in other towns, according to The AP.

Algeria sealed their place at the 2014 World Cup with a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in Bilda.
