London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal have agreed to donate all proceeds from their Community Shield clash to the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.
The Premier League and FA Cup winners are due to face off on August 6 in the traditional season curtain-raiser at Wembley Stadium.
All the money earned from the match will go directly to those affected by last week's fire at a block of flats in West London, while the Football Association and sponsors McDonald's will also contribute.
It is hoped that £1.25m will be raised in the joint effort, which FA chairman Greg Clarke is hopeful can help those caught up in the horrific blaze.
"Like the rest of the country, we were all deeply saddened by the terrible incident at Grenfell Tower," he said in a statement. "The suffering and loss for those involved is unimaginable. Whilst only a football match, we hope that in some small way through the Community Shield we can help.
"Two great London clubs will come together to play at the city's most famous stadium just a few miles from Kensington. They will be united in their passion for football, grief at this tragic loss and support for their community. Football is for all, and we hope that on Sunday 6 August it can in its own way give something back to those who are most in need."
A number of sports stars have already contributed to the fund, including Andy Murray, Hector Bellerin, Raheem Sterling and Ryan Bertrand.
