Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals that he was "not far" from the scenes where terrorist attacks killed 129 people in Paris last Friday.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he was "not far" from where the terrorist attacks took place in Paris last Friday.

Six locations in the French capital were targeted by suicide bombers, three of whom blew themselves up outside of the Stade de France when the national team were playing Germany in a friendly.

It has been confirmed that 129 people died in the atrocities, and French-born Wenger has expressed his shock at the attacks.

"I would like to thank the English community who showed great solidarity," Wenger told reporters. "It was a huge shock for our country. I was not far from the events. To discover how much your own citizens hate you is a big shock.

"The way for us is to get on with life and respond in a positive way to the situation. You cannot just stop everything. You have to trust politicians to make the right decisions. France is a tolerant society."

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has revealed that security at this weekend's fixtures will be on "extra high alert" following the attacks.
