Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that he has no inside knowledge on reports that a consortium from the Middle East is preparing a takeover bid at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he knows nothing about reports of a potential takeover at the Emirates Stadium.

The Sun released a story yesterday detailing that a consortium made up of investors from the Middle East were ready to offer majority shareholder Stan Kroenke around £20,000 a share for his 66.6% stake in the club.

Wenger is adamant that he has no knowledge of a change in ownership but believes that talk of a takeover means that the club are still in a strong position.

He told Sky Sports News when asked what he knew about the story: "Nothing. If people are ready to invest their money, it means the club is not moving too much in a bad direction.

"I am nothing to do with it. I focus on my job, financial is down to the directors, shareholders and the owners.

"You are only vulnerable if you want to sell and you need money. [However], that does not concern me at all, that is down to the owners."

The Gunners face an uphill battle to secure Champions League qualification after slipping to a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in this afternoon's North London derby.
