Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has finally admitted that he smoked a cigarette while on a night out in London last week.
The England international initially claimed that it was a prank when a photo of the 21-year-old puffing away emerged in a national newspaper.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger criticised the midfielder for his behaviour, but Wilshere has insisted that he will not smoke again.
"Players make mistakes," Wilshere told the club's official website. "I am not a smoker.
"I spoke with the boss and he asked me what happened, I explained to him and we sorted it out. I am not a smoker so I think that will be my last [cigarette]."
Wilshere scored the equaliser in Arsenal's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion yesterday to move the Gunners back to the top of the league table.
