Deportivo La Coruna have confirmed that defender Juan Dominguez lost two relatives in Wednesday's train crash near Santiago de Compostela, Galicia.
The 23-year-old, who has spent his entire professional career with Deportivo, lost his aunt and cousin in the crash that claimed 80 lives earlier.
Deportivo have issued a statement declaring that Domiguez has been given leave to support his family, while extending their condolences to the whole of Galicia.
A club statement read: "The coaching staff, backroom staff and first team squad would like to show our pain, solidarity and affection for the injured and the family of the victims of the train crash in Santiago, such as our team-mate Juan Dominguez.
"We put ourselves at the disposition of everyone affected by the tragedy. A hug from everyone at Deportivo for the people of Galicia, who have once again given a lesson to the world in solidarity, strength and empathy."
Dominguez played 24 times for Deportivo last season, but failed to stop the club from suffering relegation from La Liga.
