Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has welcomed the news that paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has had his culpable homicide conviction upgraded to murder.
A senior appeal judge in South Africa overturned the original decision to find the athlete not guilty of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp when he fired shots through his bathroom door on Valentine's Day in 2013.
The South African-born batsman, who previously expressed support for the Steenkamp family following the original ruling, wrote on Twitter:
He later added: "Can #OscarPistorius appeal the appeal ruling, or is he now going where he should be for a VV LONG time #murderer"
Pistorius, who is currently under house arrest, will be resentenced, with murder convictions carrying a minimum jail term of 15 years in South Africa.
