Germany star Mario Gotze has raised almost £1.6m (€2m) for a children's charity after selling the boot that he wore to score the one and only goal in the World Cup final against Argentina in Brazil.
The 22-year-old decided against cleaning the boot before putting it up for auction in aid of German charity A Heart For Children.
"I have never washed the boot," Gotze told Bild. "It is still in the same condition as it was in Rio, when I left the stadium with it.
"There is still grass on it. I have never put the boot on after the final. I kept it safe at my house."
Gotze scored the winner in the second half of extra time at the Maracana back in July.
