Hibernian confirm that the club's stadium announcer has been sacked for a "breach of conduct" following Sunday's match when The Beatles' song 'Taxman' was played as a reported reference to Hearts's financial troubles.

Hibernian have confirmed that the club's stadium announcer has been dismissed following a "breach of conduct".

The Scottish Premier League outfit came under criticism after The Beatles' song 'Taxman' was played at Easter Road during Sunday's 2-1 win over Dundee United.

Some have suggested that the song was played to refer to Hibs's rivals Hearts, who have been handed a winding-up order due to unpaid tax.

A spokesman for Hibs told BBC Sport: "The stadium announcer's contract has been terminated following a breach of conduct."

The song was played during the half-time interval at the weekend.
