KSI president Geir Thorsteinsson has said that EA Sports should be blamed for Iceland missing out on a place on computer game FIFA 17.

After reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, the minnows were expected to make an appearance on the latest version of the game but after EA Sports offered £11,501 for the rights of the Icelandic team, their offer was quickly turned down.

Thorsteinsson said: "They are the ones buying these rights and they almost want it for free.

"The performance at the Euros show that we are quite a good team and many would like to play with our team. It's sad for the players - but the criticism should be towards EA Sports.

"I really feel if we are giving away rights, or offering rights, it has to be proper negotiations and fair fees."

Iceland famously beat England at the tournament which was staged earlier this year before they lost to France in the last eight.
