The fastest Paralympian in the world, Jason Smyth of Ireland, has tweeted at the Post Office and the Royal Mail to request a gold postbox.
Gold medal-winning athletes from Great Britain have had postboxes painted gold in their hometowns, a tradition that has continued through the Paralympics.
Although he represents the Republic of Ireland, Smith was born in Eglinton in Northern Ireland and he has made his request on the social networking site.
He tweeted: "What does anything think, do we deserve a #GoldPostBox in Eglinton because I live and am from Northern Ireland @PostOffice @royalmailnews RT."
Smyth won both his sprint events in the T13 class.
