The family of Liverpool maestro Mohamed Salah will reportedly sacrifice three calves today in order to wish him well in tonight's Champions League final with Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old, who has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign on Merseyside, is a practising Muslim and has been fasting, as well as abstaining from sex, as part of Ramadan.
According to Egyptian publication Al Masry al Youm, the player's family will perform a traditional sacrificial ritual in Egypt today "on Salah's behalf" in a move that will allegedly bring him luck when he lines up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos tonight.
A loophole in the customs of Ramadan means that because he has been travelling out to Kiev for the game, Salah will be allowed to eat in the run-up to the kickoff, however.
Salah goes into tonight's game needing three goals to equal Ian Rush's record of 47 goals in all competitions for Liverpool in a single season.
