Gambling firm 888poker has terminated its partnership with Liverpool star Luis Suarez after he was banned by FIFA for biting the shoulder of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
The Uruguayan has returned to his homeland from Brazil after receiving a nine-match ban from internationals and a four-month suspension from all football activity.
888poker, who named Suarez as their brand ambassador in May, announced after the incident on Tuesday that they were "reviewing" their relationship with the 27-year-old.
Today, the firm wrote on their official website: "888poker signed Luis Suarez following a fantastic season for which his achievements were widely recognized. Regrettably, following his actions during Uruguay's World Cup match against Italy on Tuesday, 888poker has decided to terminate its relationship with Luis Suarez with immediate effect."
The Uruguayan Football Association are planning to appeal the sanction imposed by FIFA.
