Former Manchester United and England defender Brian Greenhoff has passed away at the age of 60.
Police were called to his home in Rochdale this morning following reports of a sudden death as a matter of procedure. They have now passed the case on to the coroner.
Greenhoff, who could also play in midfield, made 271 appearances for United, scoring 17 goals in the process.
He went on to join Leeds United in 1979, before ending his playing career at Rochdale.
Greenhoff won the Second Division title with United in 1975 and was part of the squad, along with his brother Jimmy, who lifted the FA Cup two years later.
He also made 18 appearances during a four-year stint with the England national team.
