Manchester City striker Toni Duggan has apologised for posting a photo with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal following Sunday's derby.
The England women's international happily posed for a picture with the Dutchman at Wing's Chinese restaurant following United's 4-2 victory over their local rivals at Old Trafford.
Duggan posted the photo, which also included teammate Isobel Christiansen and Everton's Michelle Hinnigan, to Instagram, with the message: "Heyy Louis van G!!!! Nice to share a wings with you...."
After receiving criticism from City supporters, Duggan removed the photo and later wrote a statement on her Facebook page, which read: "I would like to apologise to all MCFC fans for the error of judgement I made.
"I now appreciate the significance of my actions and can assure everyone connected with Manchester City that I am proud to represent the club and wear the shirt."
Duggan signed for City from Everton in 2013.
