Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that footballers aren't overpaid compared to other athletes who earn "ridiculous money".
The world's best footballers are generally on a six-figure salary, and while the 34-year-old is adamant that other sports pay more in wages, he accepts that players are overpaid when compared to members of the armed forces.
"Are we overpaid compared to the public service people? The army that serve our country? I'd say definitely," Ferdinand told Goal.com.
"But we don't get paid as much as athletes from a lot of other sports, the golfers, tennis players, basketball players, the baseball stars, they get paid ridiculous money compared to what we get paid."
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham was named the world's richest footballer with a £175m fortune.
