Former Manchester United defender Bill Foulkes has had his European Cup winner's medal sold for £40,000.
Foulkes, who played for the Red Devils for almost 20 years, was given the medal with his teammates after they became the first English team to win the prestigious tournament.
The medal was part of a selection of sporting memorabilia being sold at Sotheby's in London, according to the BBC.
Foulkes survived the Munich air disaster in 1958.
