Organisers of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games announce that a Pride House will be set up during the event for the LGBT community.

Organisers for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games have revealed that a Pride House will be set up for athletes and fans of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

The controversial 'gay propaganda' laws in Russia cast a shadow over the Winter Olympics in Sochi ahead of the event, but the Commonwealth Games are hoping to break barriers of homophobia in sport.

The Scottish government have also provided £25,000 of funding for the Pride House, which will allow fans to watch the events for the duration of the Games.

Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sports Shona Robison said: "In 2014 Scotland is taking centre stage in global terms as host of the Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup, Homecoming Scotland and MTV Europe Awards.

"This provides us with a unique opportunity to welcome the world and also showcase our country's many great strengths to a truly massive audience."

The venue will be situated on Albion Street.
