ITV are reportedly planning to put forward a bid to poach the Premier League highlights from the BBC.
Match of the Day currently provides weekend footage of the top flight's football matches, with former England international Gary Lineker serving as anchor.
However, the rights will be up for grabs again when the BBC's contract expires at the end of the 2015-16 season.
According to The Mirror, ITV are considering a big-money bid to take the television rights from the BBC, who currently pay £60m per year.
ITV previously had the rights between 2001 and 2004, but the broadcaster was criticised for its show The Premiership.
Presenter Adrian Chiles, who currently hosts ITV's coverage of the Champions League and England internationals, is being lined up to front their new highlights show should their bid be successful.
