Nigerian football official Ibrahim Abubakar has been shot dead at his home in Abuja, the country's football federation has confirmed.
The NFF's head of protocol was killed by armed gunmen during a robbery attempt in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Abubakar is survived by his wife and three children, who are thought to be unharmed in the incident.
Former Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu led the tributes on Twitter, describing Abubakar's murder as "very bad and sad news".
Nigeria face Angola in a behind-closed-doors friendly later today in a warm-up for the Africa Cup of Nations.
