Usain Bolt's victory in the men's 100m final makes the fourth most tweeted, while England's loss to Italy on penalties in the quarter-finals of the Euros came in second place.
Theo Walcott's equaliser against Sweden in England's Euro 2012 campaign also sparked conversation on the social network site, while Cristiano Ronaldo's goal for Real Madrid against Manchester City to put the scoreline 3-2 in the Champions League made it onto the list.
