Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius reportedly applied for six gun licences a month before the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The 26-year-old, who has been charged with the premeditated murder of the model at his home in Pretoria last week, has previously been open about the firearms he owns due to the high level of crime in South Africa.
It is understood that the double amputee requested permission to use a Winchester shotgun, a Maverick shotgun, a Smith & Weston Model 500 revolver, a Mossberg shotgun, a .38 Special revolver and a Vector .223 rifle, according to the Daily Star.
On the second day of Pistorius's bail hearing, it had been alleged to the court that two bottles of testosterone and needles were found in his home following the shooting, but the athlete's defence refuted these claims, stating that the substance was a legal herbal remedy.
