South Africa's Department of Correctional Services has announced that five-time Paralympic gold medal-winning athlete Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison on parole in August.
The 28-year-old was sentenced to five years in jail last October for the culpable homicide of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day in 2013.
Under South African law, Pistorius is eligible to be released under "correctional supervision", having served a sixth of his sentence.
A state appeal against the sprinter's acquittal on a murder charge will be heard in November.
Pistorius shot the model in the bathroom of his Pretoria home, insisting that he believed her to be an intruder.
