Sky is expected to announce that it has retained the UK broadcast rights to La Liga's Primera Division within the next few days, reports suggest.
The broadcaster has held the rights to Spain's top division for the last two decades but its deal expired at the end of the 2014-15 season, prompting a fresh round of bidding from UK networks.
BT Sport, which previously poached the Champions League and Europa League from Sky, was thought to have lodged a substantial offer for the rights but was ultimately unsuccessful, according to The Telegraph.
As it stands, Sky's European football portfolio includes the Eredivisie and Coppa Italia, while BT boasts the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Portugal's Primeira Liga.
Last month the Spanish football league announced plans to move its Saturday 5pm fixture to 5.15pm in order to allow the game to be broadcast fully live on UK television.
